The Auction
There is no Live auction or raffle.
A silent auction of some wonderful and exciting items will take place throughout the evening utilising handheld devices in order not to interrupt your enjoyment of the evening.
Here are some of the items on offer. A full list will be provided closer to the date of the ball:
1 .A half a day with an armoured regiment for 2 people to include:
Training on a tank simulator, courtesy of: the 12 Mechanized Brigade at Bulford;
followed by driving an actual tank;
followed by lunch in the Officer's Mess.
2 .A Day at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst:
Escorted by the academy Sarjeant Major; The Senior Non-Commissioned officer in the British Army (held in Awe by all cadets).
Experience the life and challenges faced by an Officer Cadet about to be commissioned into the British Army, meet the staff and tour the army's most iconic estate.
The Day can be tailored to any taste and will not require any physical ability.
3 .A private tour for 4 people of the Tower of London:
Followed by a dinner hosted by Lt. General Jonathan Riley, CB, DSO, PhD, Director General and Master of the Armouries, in his private residence within the Tower of London.
Followed by the ceremony of the Keys.
4 .An exciting flight in a historic Tiger moth aircraft:
An exciting flight in an historic Tiger moth aircraft, for one person for about 40 minutes, recalling the earliest pioneering days of aviation. The flight will start and finish at the Army Air Corps Centre at Middle Wallop in Hampshire Piloted by Mr. Neville Stopps, at a date of the winner’s choosing, in spring 2011. It will be followed by lunch in the Officers’ Mess at the Army Air Corps Centre. The successful bidder must have personal insurance for the trip and produce it on arrival.
5 .A half day at Fort Nelson in Portsmouth for 4 people to include:
Training on firing a Napoleonic Cannon;
followed by lunch in the Officer's Mess.
6 .Experience Life at Sea:
A unique opportunity for 2 people to spend a day at sea on board a Royal Navy ship.
Meet the professional men and women of the Royal Navy. Experience the conditions in which they live and work, see how they operate.
Enjoy lunch with the Commanding Officer.

Prerequisites:
Prize winners must be physically fit and able to climb up and down vertical ladders.
This prize is aimed at adults/young adults and is not suitable for very young children. Min age 11 yrs.
Due to the unique nature of this prize, a reserve of £3000 has been set
Date of prize will be subject to operational commitments but must be taken within 12 months.
Location: in the vicinity of Plymouth or Portsmouth.
7 .Learning to fight in full armour at the Armouries Knight School in Leeds for 2 people:
A half day Training course followed by lunch in the Boardroom.
8 .Dinner for two in the Montblanc Room at Mosimann's including wines and a private Butler:

9 .Bestselling author Frederick Forsyth as your guest of honour at a dinner:
Mr. Frederick Forsyth, CBE the renowned author of bestselling books such as The Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File, The Fourth Protocol, The Dogs of War, The Devil's Alternative, The Fist of God, Icon, The Veteran, Avenger, and The Afghan, has very kindly agreed to allow us to auction him as a dinner guest at a private dinner to be held by the winning bidder at a mutually convenient time and date for both parties. His latest novel, The Cobra, is set to be published in late summer 2010
10 .Internship with Mosimann's:
One week internship with the Mosimann's Team of Chefs at Mosimann's followed by Dinner for Two at the end of the week.

12 .A signed picture of a Kingfisher in flight signed by renowned wildlife photographer, Charlie Hamilton-James.:
Over the last twenty years Hamilton-James also worked as a wildlife cameraman on a wide variety of films, primarily for the BBC Natural History Unit. These include – Wildlife on One, Life, Planet Earth, Springwatch, Big Cat Diary, Andes to Amazon, Life of Mammals, My Halcyon River, The Wild Wood, On the Trail of Tarka, Wye - Voices from the Valley.
Charlie is also the author of the following books: Kingfishers, The Matewix, Kingfisher – Tales from the Halcyon River, and Halcyon River Diaries.
